I love my air-fryer! It’s such a fantastic way to achieve the crisp, satisfying flavor of fried food at home without all the mess and oil. But for whatever reason, I will go weeks at a time without using it. When a delivery of Pigless Pork Rinds from the kind folks over at Outstanding Foods showed up at my door, I knew it was time to fire that baby back up!
Pickle chips were always one of my favorite fried restaurant appetizers but I just can’t handle that grease anymore.
For this recipe, I’ve used the Hella Hot Pigless Pork Rinds to add flavor and crunch with no added oil. These pickle chips are delicious and indulgent without being heavy. A total win!
I absolutely recommend grabbing a bag of Pigless Pork Rinds for this recipe, but seasoned Panko breadcrumbs will also work.
Hella Hot Pickle Chips
A healthy alternative to traditional pickle chips.
Ingredients
- 2 dozen pickle chips (+/- depending on size)
- 2 cups Outstanding Foods Hella Hot Pigless Pork Rinds
- Salt & pepper
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cashew or soy milk
- 2 tsp Franks Red Hot sauce
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 390°F.
Sandwich pickle chips in between paper towels and press to remove excess liquid.
Place Pigless Pork Rinds into a blender and blend until they are the size of small breadcrumbs. Transfer Pigless crumbs into a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk hot sauce into plant milk. The vinegar in the hot sauce will thicken the milk a bit and make it into a batter.
Use one hand (wet hand) to dip each pickle chip into the batter and use your other hand (dry hand), to coat each battered chip with the Pigless crumbs.
Place pickle chips in a single layer in the air fryer basket (do not overcrowd). Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping each piece halfway through the cook time.
Notes
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
