A Little About Me
Hi! I'm Amy, the food blogger behind BohoVegMom. I'm a wife and busy mom of 2 energetic young boys living at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia. I'm passionate about traveling and exploring here in Central VA and beyond. I spend a lot of time outdoors with my family mostly hiking, foraging, and gardening. I love to see my boys appreciating the natural world and teaching them even at a young age to be good stewards of the earth.
When not outdoors or exploring, I can usually be found in the kitchen. Cooking is my love language. For me, there is nothing quite as satisfying as filling my loved ones bellies with nourishing & tasty food!
Of course, with all the outdoor activities, exploring, gardening, etc, I constantly find myself blinking and wondering where the day went. I don't know any mom who has the time to cook elaborate family meals, me included! I started blogging as a way to share my simple yet delicious plant-based recipes, and show that you can make healthy cooking a priority even with limited time and a strict budget.
Why I Changed My Diet
I went vegan in 2004. As a college student studying environmental science, veganism felt like the simplest, most immediate and direct way to reduce my environmental impact. Sustainability and zero/reduced-waste concepts were then, and continue to be central in my life. I found that a plant-based lifestyle was a total win! It allowed me to live greener, healthier, and more humanely.
Over the years, I've had dietary ebbs and flows but I've always felt my best when I focus my diet on eating fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. A plant-based diet free of processed foods and refined sugars is the quickest way to bring the body back into alignment and to take control of your health.

I love sharing my knowledge and experience with others and hope to inspire people to eat more plants. My goal is to show that a vegan diet can be quite delicious while also not being expensive or complicated. My recipes are whole food plant-based, budget-friendly, and easy to make.
