This Agave Mustard BBQ Sauce has glorious punch of heat from yellow mustard and a mix of spices, but has a subtle sweet finish from agave and brown sugar. I love using this sauce when grilling! The smoky char from the grill works perfectly with this bold take on BBQ.
Try it with everything from tofu and tempeh, to eggplant and squash.
Agave Mustard BBQ Sauce
A sweet and spicy take on a traditional BBQ sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup agave
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp plant-based butter
- 2 tbsp coconut aminos, or soy sauce
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne
Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil on med-high heat.

Whisk continuously as it thickens for about 10 minutes then remove from heat.
