This Blueberry Rosemary Gin & Tonic is the perfect spring and summer time cocktail. It has a wonderful fruity flavor from blueberries, fresh herbal notes from rosemary, and the fizz of tonic water, all which are perfectly matched with the botanical undertones of gin.
Why Gin?
Gin really is my all-time favorite alcohol. This botanical booze’s main flavor is derived from juniper berries, but every brand can taste unique depending on the mix of herbs, spices, and flowers that are added in the distilling process. It is not uncommon to sip gin and experience flavors like anise, orange, cinnamon, coriander, or even saffron. The sheer variety from brand to brand makes for a wonderful tasting experience.
For this cocktail I’ve used Bombay Sapphire, but any high quality gin will suffice. Of course, if you aren’t as keen on gin as I am, this tasty cocktail can be made with vodka or white rum as great substitutes.
What you need to make this cocktail.
To make this cocktail, you will need a high quality gin and of course, some tonic water. The brand of tonic water isn’t so important, but I recommend buying small bottles of tonic that will suffice for 1-2 drinks at a time. This way you never have issues with the tonic getting flat.
Blueberries are an integral part of this recipe, and while love using fresh berries, frozen blueberries will also work well in this cocktail. You will need to use fresh sprigs of rosemary, as dried rosemary is not an acceptable substitution. This cocktail is finished off with a squeeze of lime juice and a small amount of simple syrup.
How to make simple syrup.
Although simple syrup can be purchased at the grocery stores nowadays, it is ridiculously easy to make at home. To make simple syrup, just mix equal parts boiling water and sugar until all the sugar has dissolved. Once made, just cover it and store in the refrigerator for up to 30 days.

May 15, 2022 at 2:58 amI’ve always said gin tastes like turpentine. I’m talking about the cheap stuff. I’ve tried a top shelf. It’s those Juniper berries. I think I will give gin another chance and make this cocktail. What gin do you suggest? Maybe some tangeray? Excuse spelling .
